As the current owner of Penguin I am afraid this is going to be just a little biased., but the truth is she`s a fantastic yacht! Penguin is a Carinna 44, Australian Built in 1987 and designed by Joe Adams as an offshore cruiser racer. She is cutter rigged, easily handled by a couple - the previous owners sailed her from AUS. She is fast, having won The Round The Island Silver Roman Bowl, and is a great boat to sail at sea. She is now fitted out for long distance offshore sailing, and is just a fant...

My wife Jacky made the decision that we had found the right boat and we bought her in 2001. Since then we have sailed at least 50000 miles and have just returned from a 3 year circumnavigation which started with the ARC 2005. We completed our trip this year leaving Cape Town in Feb sailing via Salvador, Azores etc finishing in June. You can read the Penguin's web diary on, Penguin is based in Poole.

My Sailing History
I hold the RYA Yacht Master Ocean qualification which is commercially endorsed, and also a Ships Medical Care Certificate, and Long Range Radio Operator's certificate.

I started sailing at 9years of age and have always been passionate about it. I spent many years involved with racing dinghies, winning a national championship, finally 7 years ago swapping our Laser 4000 for Penguin and a new sailing challenge. It was Francis Chichester and my father who inspired me to sail around the world and this became my dream.

During the last 30 years I have married, brought up a family, ran my own business, and it was only in the last 7 years that I have been able to convert the dream into the real life experience.
